The checks

What I check

The same things a customer and Google notice, looked at by the person who would fix them.

  • Security

The padlock in the address bar, when your security certificate runs out, and the settings that keep visitors safe.

  • Speed

How quickly your pages start to load, how heavy they are, and whether your pictures are slowing them down.

  • Phones

Whether your site fits a phone screen, with text big enough to read and buttons big enough to press.

  • Google

Page titles, descriptions, headings, your sitemap and the details Google reads to understand your business.

  • Everyone can use it

Picture descriptions, labelled form boxes and clear link wording, for visitors who use a screen reader.

  • Broken links

Links that lead nowhere, and pages that bounce visitors through several addresses first.

  • Local customers

Your name, address and phone number, a map, and the business details that help you show up nearby.

  • Getting in touch

Whether a visitor can see how to call, email or book you without hunting for it.

Rather talk it through?

A free half hour, in person across Edinburgh and the Lothians or on Zoom, about what would help your business most.
