The result

How it changed the business

ItemFinder is a shop selling Bluetooth item trackers, and five sister sites sell the same product to different kinds of buyer. Each has its own name, colours, lettering and wording, but behind the scenes all six run on one system, so an improvement made once shows up on all six.

What this means for your business

Build the system once and it can run several businesses at a time. The same idea works for one shop: what makes six shops cheap to run is what makes one shop cheap to change.

What the owner gets

  • Six shops, one system
  • Pay without leaving the page
  • Referral scheme
  • Owner dashboard
  • Over a hundred articles

The build

What it does for the owner

  1. Six shops, each with its own web address and brand, sharing one system behind the scenes
  2. Card payment built into the page, so the customer never leaves the shop to pay
  3. A referral scheme: partners get their own login and link, and can see what they have earned
  4. An owner dashboard: orders, posting, delivery labels, enquiries and alerts in one place
  5. Over a hundred helpful articles that bring in visitors from Google, all managed from one place

Live storefronts

The six storefronts

A fair test of what actually brings buyers

Most businesses never get to test what brings in customers properly, because they only have one website. ItemFinder has six. Every storefront sells the same tracker to the same market, so the only thing that changes is the site itself: its own web address, its own brand, its own wording and picture descriptions, and over a hundred of its own articles. It is like trying six shop windows on the same street. One site speaks to iPhone owners, one to people who keep losing their keys, one to the technically minded who search for the Bluetooth standard by name.

All six run as one system, so every order records which site it came from. The owner's dashboard then lines up visits, search rankings (where each site shows up when people search on Google) and orders, site by site. I compared them over months, and judged them on orders, not on visitors. That showed which kinds of page, and which kinds of search words, bring people who actually buy, and which only bring people who read.

You can check all of this yourself: the six sites are live and linked above. The numbers behind them are shown in the first conversation, not quoted here.
