Case study · PageNumberOne
An SEO subscription service that largely runs itself

The result
How it changed the business
PageNumberOne is my own product: an SEO subscription service from Harvie Software Solutions, the same company behind WebLothian, and its sister service. I built it in October 2026 to run as much of a subscription business as possible on its own. A visitor can check their website for free and get the report by email, choose one of three monthly plans and order it from the site, then fill in a short brief about their business straight after ordering. A new article goes up on its blog three times a week without anyone writing it. It is here because it is live, and because it is the same kind of automation I build for other businesses.
What this means for your business
Most of the work in a subscription business is not the service itself. It is answering the first enquiry, taking the order, collecting what is needed to start, chasing anyone who has not sent it and keeping new content coming. When software does those jobs, one person can run the whole thing, and a small business can hand the same jobs over one at a time.
What the owner gets
- Free check, report by email
- Plans ordered online
- A brief after every order
- Reminders sent for you
- Three new articles a week
The build
What it does for the owner
- A free SEO check: a visitor types in their website, the scan runs in the background, and a full report arrives by email a few minutes later
- Three monthly plans, with yearly billing as an option, ordered from the site, and a discount for anyone who joins the newsletter
- A short brief on the thank-you page straight after ordering: the searches the business wants to be found for, the areas it serves, its customers and its competitors, with a checklist of the access needed to start and a link to Google's own help for each step
- Reminders sent automatically one, three and seven days after an order while anything is still missing, and one alert to the owner the moment a new client is ready to start
- A new article three times a week, written and published on its own and checked against the house rules first, with every sign-up traced back to the article that brought it in
- Rankings tracked from Google's own search data, a client area with monthly progress emails, the first automatic audit and an owner's dashboard: all being rolled out now
